Creating Positive Change

There are times in our lives when we may feel stuck.  We may be in a situation that is making us unhappy, however we are lacking the confidence, motivation or extra push we need to help us create positive change in our lives.  Sometimes we are not even sure what it is that we want.

If you are unclear as to what you goal is, you can take a look at each area of your life.  Those areas may include:  Family, friends, health, career, finances, physical location, hobbies, and your love life. You can begin by determining on a scale of one to ten (ten being best) how you feel about each of these areas of your life.  After you determine which area has the lowest number, you can then think about what you can do to make that area a “ten”.

Gaining awareness of your life, the environment you live in, the people in it and what an where you can make changes and improvements is a great way to start improving your life, health and happiness.

Once you have determined what your goal (or dream) is, you can then begin to focus on it by determining what steps you need to take in order to get there.  One thing to consider is that even though you may not be happy with your current situation, it was that situation that launched your dream.  So it is important to appreciate where you are in life, which helps to create a positive mental attitude.  This attitude can help to move you in the right direction more quickly.

Also, it is a good idea for you to surround yourself with other people who have similar goals. This support system can add more motivation, and can provide even more ideas which will help you to reach your goal.

Determination is very important, because the person who does not reach their goal is usually the one who gave up before they reached the “finish line”.  (Consider that Thomas Edison tried 700 times before inventing the light bulb.)  Sometimes, a person simply needs to keep trying and not give up.

Improving your life, means starting with a deep understanding of how your life is right now, not where you were 10 years ago, not looking back at the past with regret, shame or even looking at others wishing you were where they are.

What’s done is done, moving on means accepting the past as just that, the past and creating a future that you really want.

Identifying your core values and beliefs, understanding what is really important to you and why.

Making that reason ‘why’ so powerful it evokes emotion in you that it lights a fire in your gut and pushes you to be the best you can be in all of those areas of your life.

If change is what you REALLY want, then go out and get it, only you can make that decision to start, take that first step, play your first hand and don’t give up.

If you are someone who could use some extra motivation, a personal coach can help you to find out what you want, and can help inspire and motivate you to get there.

We all need support from time to time, we simply can’t expect to ‘ace’ every aspect of our lives.
