Carbohydrates are needed for energy but can also contribute to fat storage if the wrong carbohydrates are eaten, especially at the wrong time. Try to get your carbs from less sweet fruits and vegetables as these contain less sugar and more water. These forms of fiber will keep you fuller for longer and prevent you from having cravings unlike sugary carbs. If you feel the need for starchy carbs such as pasta, rice and bread limit these and ensure they are wholegrain not refined (white). The best time to eat your carbs is after a workout, when they are used to refuel your muscles.
